Donna Brazile: Long-time, high-level Democrat apparatchik.
September 3, 2023, Donna Brazile appearing on ABC’s “This Week”:
“I’ve never seen anything like this with Donald Trump. I mean, what doesn’t kill you make you stronger. I mean, being indicted, that’s making him stronger, raising $10 million using an ugly mug shot to raise money. This is a movement, and anyone who thinks that you can apply the old political rules to try to defeat this candidate based on he’s scary, he’s ugly, whatever you might want to call him, this is a movement. We have to respect the fact it’s a movement.”
Coincidentally, driving back from a meeting yesterday, Cat Stevens’ song “Peace Train” played on the radio. It was a hit in 1971. I hadn’t heard it in years.
[Many of you remember this song. For those of you who don’t, here it is: Peace Train]
As I listened, it occurred to me that what Brazile was describing – the movement – at other times has been called the “Trump Train” … and that updated lyrics to “Peace Train” would make a darn good anthem for the Trump campaign, and to play at Trump rallies.
Updated (slightly tweaked) lyrics along the lines of:
Now I've been happy lately
Thinkin' about the good things to come
And I believe it could be
Something good has begun
Oh, I've been smilin' lately
Dreaming about the world our country as one
And I believe it could be
Some day it's going to come
'Cause out on the edge of darkness
There rides a peace TRUMP train
Oh, peace TRUMP train take this country
Come take me home again
Now I've been smiling lately
Thinkin' about the good things to come
And I believe it could be
Something good has begun
Oh, peace TRUMP train soundin' louder
Glide on the peace TRUMP train
Ooh-ah, ee-ah, ooh-ah
Come on the peace TRUMP train
Yes, peace TRUMP train holy roller
Everyone jump on the peace TRUMP train
Ooh-ah, ee-ah, ooh-ah
Come on the peace TRUMP train
Get your bags together
Come bring your good friends, too
Our cause is getting nearer
It soon will be with you
And come and join the living
It's not so far from you
And it's gettin' nearer
Soon it will all be true
Oh, peace TRUMP train soundin' louder
Glide on the peace TRUMP train
Ooh-ah, ee-ah, ooh-ah
Come on the peace TRUMP train, peace TRUMP train
Now I've been cryin' lately
Thinkin' about the world as it is
Why must we go on hating woking?
Why can't we live in bliss?
'Cause out on the edge of darkness
There rides a peace TRUMP train
Oh, peace TRUMP train take this country
Come take me home again
Oh, peace TRUMP train soundin' louder
Glide on the peace TRUMP train
Ooh-ah, ee-ah, ooh-ah
Come on the peace TRUMP train
Yes, peace TRUMP train holy roller
Everyone jump on the peace TRUMP train
Ooh-ah, ee-ah, ooh-ah
Come on, come on, come on
Yeah, come on peace TRUMP train
Hey, yes it's the peace TRUMP train
Ooh-ah, ee-ah, ooh-ah
Come on the peace TRUMP train, oh peace TRUMP train
Perhaps somebody associated with the Trump campaign will hear about this idea, and arrange for “Trump Train” to be made. Perhaps not.
Either way, Donna Brazile recognizes that a movement has been afoot, and is growing. It seems clear that she’s warning her allies that it could become unstoppable.
If the other side recognizes that we could become unstoppable, we’ve no excuse for not executing and making it happen.
“Thinkin' about the good things to come …”
SONG OR NO SONG, IT’S TIME FOR US ALL TO JUMP ON THE TRUMP TRAIN. ALL ABOARD!
